Prepare for an extraordinary event that goes beyond the ordinary—”Malawi’s Echoes of Resilience.” This unique festival, set for December 2, 2023, at The Farmers Daughter from 1:30 pm to 8:30 pm, promises a vibrant blend of music, culture, and mental health awareness.
The Ndalama Band, a creation of Music4Malawi cohort 2, clinched victory in the NMN Africa Battle of the Bands, winning a €1,000 prize. These funds now fuel the “Youth Minds Connect” campaign, making this festival a pivotal part of the initiative.
This event is fully funded by the Sound Connects Fund through Music4Malawi: an initiative under the Kwathu Kollective, operationalized by the Ntha Foundation – a music and creative resource sharing platform, aiming at building capacity of Malawian artists and creatives from and based in Malawi through interactive workshops, content development, and distribution as well as music showcase events.

Performances: Live performances by the “Mundiwelengele Ndalama” Band, blending contemporary and traditional Malawian music.
Collaboration with diverse Malawian artists for a cultural musical journey.
Interactive Art Exhibition: Art exhibition focusing on the intersection of Malawian culture and mental health. Interactive installations encouraging reflection on mental well-being.
Culture and Cuisine Corner: Stalls featuring traditional Malawian cuisine, offering a taste of the country’s diverse culinary heritage. Cultural displays, workshops, and demonstrations educating participants about Malawian rituals.
Youth Minds Connect Hub: Interactive hub for learning about mental health resources. Short, informative sessions on mental health awareness and coping strategies.
Storytelling and Poetry Corner: Cozy space for storytelling and poetry sessions, allowing individuals to share experiences with mental health. Performances by local poets and storytellers resonate with the event’s theme.
Cultural Workshops and Activities: Hands-on workshops allowing active participation in traditional Malawian activities. Discussions on the role of culture in fostering resilience and well-being.
As “Malawi’s Echoes of Resilience” unfolds, it promises a transformative experience—a celebration of Malawian culture, a musical journey, and a platform for open conversations about mental health that leave a lasting impact.
