We held the first everΒ NMN Africa #BattleoftheBandsΒ show presented by the Ntha Foundation!
We were honored to have the Representative of the EU Delegation to Malawi, H.E. Ambassador Rune Skinnebach, join us as the Guest of Honour, alongside other high-level delegates.
The in-person event was strictly by invitation, but you can rewatch the live stream of the performances online.
One of the training components for the 2023 Music4Malawi cohort was the ability to collaborate and cowork. To achieve this – the learners were split into 5 bands of 10, each band consisting of vocalists, instrument players, content creators, and media managers. They worked together to create their own renditions of classic Malawian music.
The bands were evaluated on their actual talent, their creativity in revamping the musical product, their ability to work together (practicing at theΒ Kwathu Innovation & Creative Centre), their class attendance during their trainings, and their digital media (web and social) presence.
In our eyes, it has very little to do with winning, and everything to do with the ability to create a community and work together. We thus celebrate all our bands, and in particular those who did it best. Winning:
1. β¬1,000 – Mundiwerengere Ndalama Band
2. β¬800 – Che Chitekwe Band
3. β¬600 – Kwanu Band
